Cole Hatter, one of our founders, moved to Ensenada Mexico in 2010 where he joined staff with a non-profit organization called Youth With A Mission. While serving on staff with this organization, Cole was introduced to a husband and wife that started a recovery program for women who are addicts and need help breaking their addictions.
Many of the women in the recovery program were mothers and while going through recovery, their children had nowhere to go. Cole saw an opportunity to partner with the couple and expand the original vision to serve 2 purposes: start an orphanage where we can help at-risk kids get placed with safe families and foster the children that are waiting on mom to finish her recovery program.
Since 2011 we’ve helped countless children. Not only do they have a roof over their heads, but they are enrolled in school, have access to medical care, food, water, and safety. In 2021 Cole and his wife Sanja partnered with Danny Chaves to take Make Money Matter to the next level.
They created a 501c(3), created a board, and raised outside capital for the first time to expand the project. Encanto, our newest project, will more than double our current footprint adding 5 acres and more than doubling our capacity for women and children, but you can read all about Encanto in our ABOUT US secion.
